...William Perry HOBSON ... apparently moved to Clinton County around the 1852-1853 time frame. He lived there until he left in 1861 to fight in the Civil War for the 3 Month sign up period. He then married Mary Jane CHASTAIN in Aug 1862 in Burget's Corner, Clinton County, and reenlisted 2 days later. He was mustered out in June of 1865. Apparently, his wife lived in the Zionsville, Boone County area during the time he was gone as his pension papers gives her mailing address in 1865 as a post office in Zionsville. In Sept 1878 they were living on a farm in Scircelville, Clinton Co., per his pension application. He was the first chartered Commander of the Joe Hooker Post, No. 97, G. A. R. on 28 Aug 1882.
